Thematic conference: Digital twin for sustainable production

The thematic conference ‘Digital twin for sustainable production’ brings together experts from science, industry and start-ups to discuss the potential of digital twins in production. The focus is on practical relevance, concrete use cases and strategic implementation options for companies – from SMEs to large corporations – as well as approaches for future cooperation between science and industry.

Keynote speeches (Part 1) will examine the topic from the perspective of science and industry. Following on from this, keynote speeches (Part 2) will address specific industrial challenges, which will then be discussed further with experts in interactive workshops (Part 3). Solutions and cooperation approaches will be developed in order to identify ways to utilise digital twins efficiently, sustainably and economically.

The conference offers a unique platform for dialogue between industry and research in order to jointly develop implementation strategies, technological solutions and opportunities for cooperation.

The conference is aimed at:

– Scientists
– Manufacturing companies
– Companies in the digital sector
– And everyone who wants to help shape the future of production!

Programme

9:00 Welcome address: Prof. Fatma Deniz, Vice President for Digitalisation and Sustainability, TU Berlin

Part 1: Keynotes from science & industry

– Prof. Dr. Rainer Stark, Department of Industrial Information Technology, TU Berlin
– Dr. Dirk Hartmann, Siemens Technical Fellow and Head of Technology Innovation, Siemens Digital Industries Software
– Prof. Dr. Hanno Gottschalk, Department of Mathematics, Mathematical Modelling of Industrial Life Cycles, TU Berlin

10:30-11:00 Short Q&A session & coffee break

11:00-12:30 Part 2: Challenges from practice

– Impulse A: Asset Administration Shell (AAS), Dr. Guido Schröer, Siemens Mobility, Siemens AG
– Impulse B: Data quality and process optimisation, Markus Lukasson, CTO, nyris

– Impulse C: Production and Sim2RealGap, Daniel Regulin, Digital Industries Motion Control, Siemens AG
– Impulse D: Getting started & sustainable benefits, Dr. Simon Zarnitz, Co-Founder, TVINN
– Followed by a discussion round, moderated by Dr Carina Fresemann

12:30-13:15 Lunch break

13:15-15:30 Part 3: Parallel workshops based on the impulses

A: How can the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) be efficiently integrated into existing production and business processes in order to create added value for companies – from SMEs to large corporations?
B: What requirements and technical options are there for efficiently designing a digital twin in production and improving it through optimised data quality?
C: How can we optimise the use of digital twins during the production of components so that the differences between simulation and reality can be interpreted in a targeted manner and used for process improvements?
D: How can SMEs successfully enter the world of digital twins in order to realise efficiency potential, for example in production planning and other areas of the company – and at the same time create sustainable added value?

15:30-16:45 Part 4: Presentation of the results from the workshops, summary & outlook

From 16:45 Open networking

The event is organised in cooperation with the Department of Industrial Information Technology at TU Berlin, the Werner-von-Siemens-Centre for Industry and Science e.V. and the Siemens Research and Innovation Ecosystem and Berlin Partner for Business and Technology.
