Establishment of an Open RAN campus network at the WvSC

As part of the CampusDynA research project, the construction of a 5G campus network will begin on the WvSC premises.

Milestone reached in the CampusDynA project

The starting signal has been given for the construction of the Open RAN campus network at the Werner-von-Siemens Centre for Industry and Science. The network is scheduled to go into operation at the end of 2023. Subsequently, the three use cases of the project will be tested: autonomous mobile robotics (edge-controlled driverless transport systems), resource efficiency of production facilities (optimisation of energy use) and civil security of production facilities (using the example of a major incident and the supply of emergency forces and equipment with connectivity).

In the CampusDynA project, partners from industry and science work together on the scenarios that are tested in the WvSC and set up as demonstrators. In addition to the WvSC, these include the German companies and research institutions Gestalt Robotics, Fraunhofer IPK, Fraunhofer IOSB, T-Systems and OSRAM. More detailed information on the project can be found on our website and on the project’s own website.

The CampusDynA project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection in the Campus Networks programme based on 5G  communication technology as a satellite to the CampusOS flagship project for providers and users.
